Phillip Gasson and David Kill are opening
their first exhibition of collagraphs together.
Collagraphs are a form of printmaking that is literally a collage involving textures that is printed in one of two ways; Intaglio, like etchings or relief, like lino or wood cuts. Phil and David have put together this exhibition to show what a great thing it is to make prints from objects that would usually end up in the recycling or garbage bin.
They like to recycle by making printing plates by gluing discarded cardboard, paper, old cogs and bits of string ect, ect to create an image that can be printed using traditional intaglio or relief printing methods. If you like etchings, woodcuts or lino prints, then you will love their collagraphs.
The exhibition opens 3.00pm Saturday 9th October
June 12th 2010. until August 1st 2010
Peter Schardin - Landscape Allegory, Photographs & prints
My thoughts; it is about the connection one has
with the landscape,
earth, ground, water
etc. I dare say, the
landscape has been a
little misinterpreted at
times and turned into a holy grail of religion,
mythology and environmental issues etc.
My interpretation is quite simple, it is about our
connection to earth, hence the absence of the
human form in my work. To me, the placement
of figures in a work may shift the importance
towards the figure, because the figure will
become a reference point and therefore detract
or maybe dominate the work.

"Refuge (e)"
Refuge and shelter has been a consistent theme
in Heather Matthew's work over the last few years.
Refuge (e) explores this concept further by focusing
on women and children, the most vulnerable of refugees, whose main aim for survival
is finding and maintaining shelter.
Ideas of mapping, direction, fleeing and displacement referencing stiching and weaving used in women's work are apparent in the installation and mixed media.
April 10th 2010 3pm.
"Launch of CPM's first edition Zine-On The Edge"

February 13th 2010.
"Human Natures" Judy Oakenfull,
solo exhibition at the CPM Gallery.
Judy Oakenfull explores the intersections between art and nature.
She interprets, through print/mix media images, the way so called 'natural' forces tend to reassert themselves in human attempts at order, either in the form of decaying or weed infested architecture,
or from 'the wildness' inherent in human creativity itself.
She asks questions of the new Tweed Shire Council logo and what this design might reveal about our vision for the shire.
Opening 3pm Saturday 13 February. Exhibition runs until April 4.
December 12th 2009.
"1/2 Baked" Christmas Exhibition.
At the CPM, opening at 3.00pmCPM Gallery Community Printmakers have been busy cooking up a storm for their final exhibition in the 2009 calendar. Titled “Half Baked” the show is a collection of prints and drawings inspired by favourite cake recipes. While some of the artists will be cooking “outside of the cake tin” others will embrace the everyday magic of domestic life…egg whisks, bowls, spice racks and wooden spoons as well as still lifes depicting fruit and other baking ingredients. The prints are first drafts for an artist’s cookbook which the co-operative plan to produce in 2010…fully cooking the group project. CPM invites you to a taste testing of some of their favourite recipies at the exhibition opening on December 12th at 3pm.
